Pam flies to China for 5-day expo
CEBU Gov. Pamela Baricuatro is travelling to China for this year’s 23rd China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO) 2026, which will be held at the Nanning International Convention & Exhibition Center in Guangxi, China.
The annual event, which will be held from Sept. 17 to 21, is the largest trade and investment exhibition in Southeast Asia. This year, the Philippines is the country of honor.
Baricuatro is attending the event along with other Capitol officials. Some officials from local government units (LGUs) in Cebu, such as Tuburan, Badian, and Boljoon, as well as representatives from the private sector will also be in the event.
Capitol Information Officer Ainjeliz de la Torre-Orong, who will be with Baricuatro on the trip, said Cebu will have a booth at the expo where local products from the island are showcased.
There are also private companies, resorts, and other stakeholders that will set up their booths to promote their products and other services.
“We are not going there simply to showcase what Cebu already has. We are going there to attract investments, open doors for our local businesses and tourism sector, and pursue partnerships that can translate into jobs, opportunities, and better services for Cebuanos,” Baricuatro said.
Baricuatro said Cebu will showcase not just its beautiful destinations, but also its people, talent, and the opportunities the island has to offer.
The governor emphasized that the province’s international engagements have paved the way for development opportunities and strengthened connectivity.
With Baricuatro on an official foreign trip, Vice Governor Glenn Anthony Soco will temporarily serve as the officer-in-charge or acting governor for a week and will perform some executive duties.
Department of the Interior and Local Government Cebu Provincial Director Dr. Jesus Robel Sastrillo Jr. issued the designation of Soco for the temporary succession provided under Section 46(a) of the Local Government Code on the temporary incapacity of the local chief executive.
Since 2004, CAEXPO has served as a major avenue for promoting investments and exports and building stronger regional partnerships among countries in Southeast Asia.(MyTVCebu)
