THE upcoming Christmas will surely be merry for the family of Carlos Yulo.
Seasoned politician and sportsman Luis “Chavit” Singson will be playing Santa to the Yulo family as he promised to give them a whopping P1 million this Christmas.
“I will give Yulo’s family P1 million this December, that’s for sure,” Singson said per a report by Tempo.
Interviewed by a group of reporters on Thursday, October 24, Singson said that the cash gift is to make sure that Yulo’s parents and siblings will have something to buy, eat, and celebrate this Christmas.
The Yulos made the headlines not just because of Carlos’ historic double-gold performance in the Paris Olympics but also due to the feud surrounding the family.
Singson had promised to give Yulo P5 million provided he will reconcile with her mother – Angelica.
But since an immediate resolution to the family’s conflict is unlikely, Singson decided to just give P1 million to Carlos’ parents and siblings.
Singson, who is running for senator in the 2025 election, emphasized the importance of children maintaining a harmonious relationship with their parents.
“Honor thy father and thy mother, that’s very important,” added Singson.
Singson also promised to assist Filipino athletes, who will be representing the country in international competitions.
“Kahit sino tutulungan natin, matagal na akong tumutulong sa mga atleta,” said Singson, who is currently the manager of boxer Charly Suarez.
Singson vowed that he will be fully supporting Suarez even as he called on the government to provide Filipino athletes the needed assistance.
“Wala akong cut sa kinikita nya, basta ako tulong lang. The government should always support our athletes. Given the chance, I will help,” Chavez said.(CCM)
