THE Philippines will be opening more embassies as it seeks to expand foreign missions and strengthen global partnerships.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced the move during the Vin d’ Honneur reception at Malacañang for the country’s 128th Independence Day, saying the new embassies in Astana and Accra are expected to open within this year.

In a report by Philstar, Marcos said the Philippine Consulate General will also be opened in Miami, Florida, to provide more accessible consular services for Filipinos in the southeastern United States and the Caribbean. He added that the new diplomatic missions will also help expand the country’s economic, cultural, and political partnerships.

The President also underscored the Philippines’ commitment to strengthening cooperation within ASEAN, particularly in maritime security, food, and energy security, and regional stability amid global challenges.

Marcos likewise reaffirmed the country’s commitment to multilateralism and the principles of the United Nations Charter, saying the Philippines will continue working with other nations to promote peace, sustainable development, and a rules-based international order.

Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Seattle officially reopened on June 5 under Ambassador Henry Bensurto Jr. The office will serve Filipinos in Washington, Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana, further expanding consular services in the United States, Philstar reported.
