New OPAV chief vows to strengthen government services across the Visayas
NEWLY appointed Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Philip Lo has committed to improving the delivery of government services across the region by strengthening coordination between national agencies and local governments.
Following his oath-taking, Lo expressed gratitude to President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. for entrusting him with the position and vowed to represent the interests of Visayan communities.
"I sincerely thank the President for giving me the opportunity to serve as the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas. I will serve as a bridge between the people of the Visayas and the Office of the President (OPAV)," Lo said in a statement.
Lo said his office will collaborate with government agencies, local government units, and other stakeholders to ensure that national programs and services are effectively delivered throughout the Visayas.
"One of my goals is to make government more accessible, responsive, and effective for every Visayan," he added.
President Marcos administered Lo's oath of office at Malacañang Palace on July 8, officially appointing him to lead the OPAV.
As OPAV chief, Lo will oversee efforts to coordinate and monitor the implementation of national government programs and development projects across the Visayas.
His office is also expected to work closely with local officials to support the administration's priorities, including improvements in public services, infrastructure development, investments, and regional economic growth.
Before assuming the post, Lo held several positions in both government and the private sector.
He previously served as chairman of the Development Bank of the Philippines, director of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation and Cocogen Insurance Inc., and chairman of the Coast Pacific Group of Companies and Toyota Mabolo Cebu, Inc.(MyTVCebu)
