NBA DAILY RECAP: Lakers continue to struggle, lose to Atlanta in OT
LOSSES continued to pile up for the Los Angeles Lakers as they dropped a sorry 132-134 overtime defeat to the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday (Philippine time), December 7.
The Lakers suffered their third straight loss and their seventh in the last nine games, falling to a major slump after winning 10 of their first 14 games.
Because of the skid, the Lakers dropped all the way down to the 11th spot in the Western Conference standings with an 11-10 (win-loss) record.
The Lakers had the opportunity to win the match, leading by a point, 132-131, with 25 seconds left in overtime. LA had a chance to extend that lead but Anthony Davis couldn’t protect the ball, allowing Atlanta to force a jump ball following an inbound play.
The Hawks went on to take the possession, and Trae Young made the game-winning triple with 8.1 seconds left. LeBron James’ desperation three was off the mark, sealing yet another defeat by the Lakers.
Young finished with 31 points as the Hawks soared to their fifth straight win to imrpove to 13-11.
James led the Lakers with 39 points while Davis had 38.(CCM)
