Moalboal stays hot in Calderon Cup volleyfest
THE Moalboal spikers continued their onslaught, chalking up another win at the resumption of the 1st Calderon Cup 21-Under Inter-Municipalites Women’s Volleyball Tournament on Friday, May 29, at the Moalboal Sports Complex.
After racking up five wins in the opening week, Moalboal started the second week of action with another after it blasted Ginatilan, 25-10, 25-23.
The victory raised Moalboal’s record to 6-0 (win-loss) to stay as the only unbeaten team in the eight-team field.
Marnie Tapales powered Moalboal with four points anchored on three attacks.
Ginatilan fell to 1-4.
Also starting the second week of competition on a rousing note was Badian, which chalked up back-to-back-wins.
Badian first clobbered Alegria, 25-20, 25-28, behind the six-point performance of Ivie Samontanez then nipped Alcantara, 25-18, 25-16.
Nicole Sivano led Badian against Alcantara with eight points.
With the twin victories, Badian improved to 5-1. Alegria and Alcantara crashed to 1-4 and 3-3, respectively.
Scoring its own victory was Malabuyoc, which tripped Ronda, 25-17, 25-12.
Sheina Carilla tallied seven points as Malabuyoc raised its record to 3-3 while pulling Ronda down to 0-6.(CCM)
