MOALBOAL and Badian took off to winning starts after prevaling over separate opponents in the newly opened 1st Calderon Cup 21-Under Inter-town Basketball Tournament last Sunday, March 22, at the Badian Sports Complex in southern Cebu.

Moaboal handily defeated Alcantara, 79-57, in the Bracket A action while Badian played solid on its home floor and thrashed Ginatilan, 92-77, in a Bracket B encounter.

Moaboal and Dumanjug now hold identical 1-0 (win-loss) slates to lead Bracket A while Badian also tied Algeria for the early lead in Bracket B.

Touted as one of title contenders, Moalboal flexed its vaunted offensive machiney when it wound up with three players scoring in double figures that enabled them to lead from start to finish.

Leo Talledo led Moalboal with 15 points, seven rebounds, five steals, and two assists. Jhon Ryan Abines threw in 11 points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals, while Jeremar Calanilao contributed 10 points, six rebounds, six assists, and three steals.

Yuro Fuentes had a 14-point, 13-rebound performance for Alcantara while Eiam Zyann and Humphrey Gador tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Badian, on the other hand, was led by James Ivan Alviso, who coughed up 27 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and three assists. Clifford Belarmino chipped in 14 points, while Clark Aron Bulahan recorded a double-double of 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Jigger Biligantol spearheaded Ginatilan with 16 points, while John Rusell Gosanes and James Miguel Tuason contributed 15 and 13 points, respectively.(CCM)
