A KNOWN sports aficionado will be announcing his entry into the world of professional boxing by spearheading a stacked card on February 8 next at the posh Nustar Resort and Casino.
Dr. Winley Dela Fuente of OX KBDF Gaming Promotions on Tuesday, December 10, led the press launching of “Binukbukay sa Sugbo” that will be staking three regional World Boxing Organization (WBO) belts.
Elite boxers from China, South Korea, Japan, and the Philippines will see action in the fight.
The main event will have South Korea’s Jong Seon Kang (20-1-2, 11KOs) defending his WBO Global featherweight title against former Japanese Boxing Commission (JBC) super bantamweight champion Ryuto Owan (13-2, 8KOs).
Also, Chinese fighter and PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions’ Yeerjialahasi Laayibieke (10-2, 7KOs) will put his WBO Oriental super featherweight on the line against Cebuano Rodex Piala (10-1, 1KO) of the ARQ Boxing Stable.
The other featured fight will have ex-world title challenger and WBO regional champion Genesis “Azukal” Servania (35-4, 16 KOs) taking on China’s Aketelieti Yelejian (9-4-1, 2KOs) for the WBO Oriental lightweight belt.
“People know me for derbies, but my love for boxing runs much deeper. For me, derbies are entertainment, but boxing is pure passion,” Dela Fuente said during the press launch that was also attended by Trevor Hammond, NUSTAR’s Senior Vice President for Gaming and Integrated Resort Operations, and WBO Asia Pacific Vice President Leon Panoncillo.
Dela Fuente said the mega card will not be the last boxing promotion that he will be spearheading as he vows to put up bigger cards in the future.
“Our first fight card on February 8 will serve as a gauge. Its success will determine our capability to hold larger, more ambitious boxing events,” Dela Fuente said.(CCM)
