AN OFFICIAL medical report showed that the cause of Pope Francis’ death was a stroke, followed by a coma and irreversible cardiocirculatory collapse.
The pope’s cause of death was confirmed through electrocardiographic thanatography, a medical report relased by the Director of the Directorate of Health and Hygiene of the Vatican City State, Dr. Andrea Arcangeli, stated.
According to the medical report, the Pope had a prior history of acute respiratory failure caused by multimicrobial bilateral pneumonia, multiple bronchiectases, high blood pressure, and Type II diabetes.
“I hereby declare that the causes of death, to the best of my knowledge and judgment, are as stated above,” wrote Dr. Arcangeli per a report by Vatican News.
The Vatican has announced that Francis’ funeral will take place on Saturday at 10:00 local time.
To allowe the public to pay their respects, the pope’s remains will be brought to St. Peter’s Basilica on Wednesday, where his casket will remain until burial.
