PUBLIC satisfaction with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Duterte has dropped to its lowest levels since they took office following their landslide win in the 2022 elections, according to the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey.

The survey, conducted from December 12 to 18, 2024, shows a significant decline in their net satisfaction ratings, which reflect the difference between the satisfied and dissatisfied respondents.

Although both officials still maintained positive ratings from the majority of the respondents, their net satisfaction scores showed a marked decrease compared to previous surveys.

President Marcos saw a 13-point drop in his net satisfaction rating, falling from a “good” +32 in September 2024 to a “moderate” +19 in December.

This was his lowest rating since assuming office in June 2022.

The survey, which involved 2,160 respondents, revealed a decline in his ratings across all areas, with the steepest drop occurring in Mindanao, a region historically loyal to the Duterte family.

Vice President Duterte also experienced a decline, with her net satisfaction dropping from a “moderate” +27 in September 2024 to +21 in December.

Although her ratings remained highest in Mindanao, they have fallen significantly since her first survey in October 2022, when she received an “excellent” +73.

The drop in satisfaction with both leaders mirrors trends observed in similar surveys conducted by other polling organizations like Pulse Asia and OCTA Research.

Despite the overall decline, their ratings remained relatively positive, with the SWS survey indicating that both still garnered majority satisfaction, though tempered by rising dissatisfaction.(CMM)
