LONDON: 7 nabbed over foiled arson plot targeting jewish community

SEVEN people have been arrested in London in connection with a suspected plot to carry out an arson attack on a site linked to the Jewish community, according to police.

The arrests were made over the past 48 hours as part of what authorities described as a proactive counterterrorism investigation into a possible conspiracy to commit arson.

In a report by CNN, officials said the exact target has not yet been identified, but it is believed to be connected to a Jewish venue.

Police also confirmed that additional arrests tied to ongoing arson investigations have been made in several locations, including Harpenden, Stevenage, near Birmingham, and Ealing in west London.

These developments follow a March 23 incident in Golders Green, where ambulances belonging to a Jewish volunteer rescue group were set on fire outside a synagogue. Since then, a total of eight people have been charged with arson-related offenses, while 13 others remain in custody or under investigation.(Georgia Olivar, USJ-R Comm Intern)
