Llover KOs ex-world champ Concepcion to stay undefeated
KENNETH Llover lived up to his lofty billing when he stopped former two-division world champion Luis Concepcion via technical knockout in their non-title duel on Sunday night, August 17, at the Winford Hotel and Casino in Manila.
Llover stamped his class against the seasoned Concepcion, who found himself at the receiving end of the Filipino boxer’s relentless attack.
Banking on his speed and power, the 22-year-old Llover, the pride of General Trias, Cavite, dropped Concepcion twice in the second and third rounds.
The visiting boxer from Panamian showed he was no easy prey and withstand the Filipino’s early onslaught. Llover, however, could not be denied, unleashing another barrage of attacks in the eighth round that wobbled Concepcion.
As Concepcion was heavily battered, the referee stepped in and called a halt at the 2:27 mark of Round 8.
Llover improved to 15-0 with 10 knockouts, securing a convincing win ahead of his crucial duel against South African Landi Ngxeke in an IBF title eliminator on October.
The 39-year-old Concepcion dropped to 40-12.(CCM)
