A BREAK that undefeated Filipino boxer Charly Suarez has been yearning for has finally arrived as he will challenge reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) super featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete of Mexico on May 10 at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego.

The 36-year-old Suarez vows to go all-out against the Mexican champion, who will be defending his title for the first time.

“Ito na yung pagkakataon ko. Yung sa Olympics kasi hindi ko nakuha. So kung anuman yung mga natutunan ko doon, dito ko na ia-apply,” said Suarez in a report by Manila Bulletin.

A native of San Isidro, Davao del Norte, Suarez holds a perfect 18-0 record with 10 knockout victories.

Navarette, a three-time world champion, will come in with a 39W-2L-1D, 32KOs slate. He won his current title via a sixth-round KO win over Oscar Valdez in their rematch last December 24.

The 30-year-old Navarette is not taking Suarez lightly, knowing fully well that the 2026 Olympian has what it takes to pull off a big win.

“This fight motivates me. Suarez is undefeated and dangerous. He’s ranked No. 1 in the world for a reason. He’s exactly the kind of challenge that fuels me,” said Navarrete in a report.(CCM)
