AS HE continues to chase for another crack at the world title, Boholano boxer Regie Suganob further boosted his stock after climbing up in the latest World Boxing Organization (WBO) rankings.

The super skilled boxer is now ranked No. 2 in the WBO junior flyweight rankings, brightening his chances of contending for another world title.

The rise comes on the heels of Suganob’s masterful performance in last weekend’s Kumong Bol-anon 24 where he nipped South Africa’s Siphamandla Baleni via an eighth-round technical knockout at the packed Bohol Cultural Center in Tagbilaran Center.

After the emphatic win, Suganob, considered the face of the stacked PMI Bohol Boxing Stable, called out reigning WBO junior flyweight Rene Santiago of Mexico.

“Let’s go Rene Santiago!” said Suganob, who sports an 18W-1L, 7KOs.

Suganob’s promoter and manager, Atty. Floriezyl Echavez Podot, the top honcho of PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions, disclosed that they have already reached out to Santiago’s camp to arrange what could be a gigantic duel with his prized ward.

The Puerto Rican Santiago is also the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) world light flyweight champion. He has 15 wins, nine by knoickout, and four losses.

“They have not accepted the challenge yet but we are really pushing for it,” said Podot.

Should Santiago accept the challenge to face Suganob, Podot said the plan is to bring the world title fight to Bohol.

But the lawyer-sportsman made it clear that Suganob is willing to face Santiago even if it will be stage in foreign soil.(CCM)
