HONEYLET Avanceña, common-law partner of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, and their daughter Kitty have arrived in The Hague, Netherlands.

The mother and daughter flew to the Netherlands to be with the former persident when he celebrates his 80th birthday on March 28.

Kitty and Honeylet were seen outside the International Criminal Court (ICC) detention center on March 26 to visit the former president. They are set to enter the facility on Friday, March 28.

Duterte’s ex-wife, Elizabeth Zimmerman, is also expected to visit him on his birthday.

Sara Duterte, who has been at The Hague since the arrest of his father, said she’s not scheduled to visit his father on the 28th, as only two visitations are permitted in a day—a lawyer and a family member.

She has decided to give this opportunity to either Honeylet or Kitty, considering their limited time, as they have pressing commitments in the Philippines.

“Since (Honeylet’s) time is limited because of her businesses that she needs to tend to and (Veronica) is still in school…she needs to go home and can’t be absent for long. Their time’s limited so all the time that they can have, they have been given,” the Vice President said via One News.

On the same day, reports said that there will be a prayer rally organized by Duterte’s supporters at the Rotary Plaza in New Corella, Davao del Norte.

A large attendance is expected, as the location holds strong ties to Duterte.

Maj. Catherine Dela Rey, the police regional spokesperson, assured that sufficient law enforcement personnel will be deployed during the event.

Accused of crimes against humanity, Duterte’s next hearing before the ICC will be on September 23.(Grace Fegarido, USJ-R Comm Intern)
