THE University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters are on the brink of accomplishing something that they have never achieved before.
The Webmasters pounded the Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats, 84-65, to stay undefeated in the college basketball competition of the 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI) on Thursday night, November 14, at the Cebu Coliseum.
Firmly planted atop the standings, the Webmasters improved to a perfect 7-0 (win-loss), moving just a win away from completing what could be a remarkable achievement in its program history.
UC has never completed a clean sweep in the elimination round. It will have a chance to do just that when it battles the dangerous Benedicto College Cheetahs at the close of the elimination round on November 26.
Danie Boy Lapiz top scored for UC with 13 points. Ray Charles Libatog added UC with 12 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, a steal, and two blocks. UC, which is already assured of a Final Four slot and a twice-to-beat advantage, also got a double-double performance from Jhiey Paraldo, who collected 12 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.
Ricofer Sordilla also scored in double figures for the Webmasters with 11 points.
John Rey Guinita finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and a block, Jerian Marc Abello and Niño Matthew Paras added 11 and 10 points, respectively, but the Wildcats still crashed to 2-4.(CCM)
