Greyhounds defeat Greywolves to end slide

IN A DUEL of struggling teams, the San Roque College de Cebu Greyhounds roared louder as they clobbered the Don Bosco Greywolves, 83-79, in the secondary division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 basketball tournament on Tuesday night, Sept. 29, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Greyhounds snapped a three-game slide and improved to 2-3 (win-loss) as they finally won again since they started their maiden season with a tight 62-59 victory over the Paref-Springdale Titans last Aug. 29.

The Jeff Codera-coached Greyhounds had four players scoring in double figures with two delivering double-double performances.

Vonn Peter Zamora racked up a team-high 15 points, John Raven Dumanhug collected 14 points while Bert Nathan Curimao and Jello Oñot each dropped 12 points.

Curimao also finished with 12 rebounds while Oñot collared 10 boards. Anthony Ross Luche also hauled down 10 rebounds as the Greyhounds dominated the rebounding battle, 54-37.

Zane Oddyssie Ondo coughed up a game-high 27 points but the Greywolves’ slide continued with their fifth defeat in as many games.

Antonio Joseph Issifu added 19 points while Mychael Bourge Suico and Cristian Lambayan contributed 10 markers in a losing effort.(CCM)
