IT’S an encore for the 49th PBA Governors’ Cup Finals.

The Barangay Ginebra Kings arranged a grudge championship rematch with the TNT Tropang Giga after they edged out the San Miguel Beermen, 102-99, in Game 6 of their best-of-seven semifinal series on Sunday night, October 20, at the Araneta Coliseum.

Ginebra won the series, 4-2, ousting the powerhouse San Miguel to forge a best-of-seven title showdown with TNT.

The Finals will start on Sunday, October 7. It will be a rematch of last season's Governors' Cup Finals that saw the Tropa beating the Kings via an epic Game 7 duel.

TNT and Ginebra are parading the same imports from their previous title duel with the Tropa still having Rondae Hollis-Jeffersons and the Kings still powered reinforced by Justin Brownlee.

Brownlee had a quiet game in Ginebra’s Game 6 win over San Miguel but came alive when the Kings needed him the most, sinking a booming three-pointer that gave his team a 102-98 lead in the closing moments of the thrilling match.

Maverick Ahanmisi gave the Kings a much-needed spark as he finished with a game-high 25 points. Brownlee wound up with 21 markers.

San Miguel actually had the chance to force a Game 7 but import EJ Anosike misfired a potential game-winning four-pointer then Jericho Cruz missed a three-pointer just before the final buzzer.

Japeth Aguilar added 20 points and six rebounds for Ginebra. RJ Abarrientos pitched in 16 points and Scottie Thompson contributed 10 points and 14 boards.

Anosike topped the Beermen with 30 points and nine rebounds while June Fajardo tallied 22 points and 15 rebounds.
