GILAS Pilipinas is all set for its pair of games against Guam at the start of the 2027 FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers.

Gilas’ 12-man roster was finally announced–a lineup that will be led anew by naturalized player Justin Brownlee.

The squad will also feature the returning RJ Abarrientos, who will be donning the national colors after making it to the national team in 2021 under coach Tab Baldwin.

Set to debut for Gilas is Quentin Millora-Brown, the 6-foot-10 big man who was granted local status by FIBA. Millora-Brown will be forming a tall frontline with AJ Edu, June Mar Fajardo, and Japeth Aguilar.

Also making it to the team are Scottie Thompson, CJ Perez, Chris Newsome, Dwight Ramos, Kevin Quiambao, and Carl Tamayo.

“These are the 12 that we are going to war with. We are really proud that they are part of it. We wanted to stay loyal to the group that has been with us because these guys know and they understand each other,” Gilas head coach Tim Cone said in a press conference on Monday, Nov. 24.

Gilas had an initial 18-man pool that was eventually reduced to 12. Those who failed to make the cut were Troy Rosario, Kai Sotto, Calvin Oftana, Juan Gomez de Liano, and Jamie Malonzo.

Gilas wil play Guam on Nov. 28. The Nationals will then fly back home to take on the same Guam squad on Dec. 1 at the Blue Eagles Gym on Dec. 1.(CCM)
