THE unique geological formation of over a thousand Chocolate Hills in the Province of Bohol never fails to mesmerize its visitors.

Count German Ambassador Andreas Pfaffernoschke as one of those who got mesmerized by the breathtaking Chocolate Hills.

In his X account (formerly Twitter), the ambassador praised the natural wonders of the famous tourism destination.

“Always a great pleasure to discover the beautiful landscape of the (Philippines): Bohol and its natural wonders, Chocolate Hills, and Tarsier sanctuary. What a nice place to be! #lovethePhilippines,” he captioned his photo looking at the marvels of the green grass hills.

The famous tourism destination comprised of 1, 775 symmetrical and same-sized chocolate-colored hills nestled in three barangays of Carmen, Batuan and Sagbayan.

The elevation of the hills ranges from 100 meters to 500 meters above sea level, giving an aesthetic view which pleases its visitors.

The Chocolate Hills were declared as the country's 3rd National Geological Monument on June 18, 1988. It was also declared a protected area by then Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos in 1997.

In March this year, the popular conical limestone peaks became even popular but with controversy after a resort was built in the middle of chocolate hills.

Enraged public called the resort owners and the local government for allowing said structure in the area which was described as "eye sore" to the beauty of chocolate hills.

The resort was eventually shut down by the government.(LAO)
