Fuel price rollback next week possible
FUEL prices may soon go down as a rollback in diesel is expected next week, the first since December 30, 2025.
Based on early trading, diesel prices may drop by ₱2.50 to ₱3.50 per liter, while gasoline prices may stay the same or decrease by up to ₱1 per liter.
In a report by Philstar, industry sources said global oil prices slightly eased after a temporary ceasefire deal in the Middle East. This includes an agreement led by US President Donald Trump to reopen a key oil route, helping stabilize supply.
However, experts warned that fuel prices in the Philippines may still remain high due to ongoing damage to oil facilities.
Since the conflict started in February, fuel prices have sharply increased, with diesel and kerosene reaching as high as ₱170 per liter, while gasoline is close to ₱120. The country also recorded one of the highest fuel price increases globally during this period.(Bhea Bianca S. Sadaya, CTU-TC BAEL-ELSD Intern)
