FIL-AM guard Jepherson Nonol made immediate impact in his debut, leading the University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters to a convincing 79-65 win over the Cebu Roosevelt Memorial Colleges (CRMC) Mustangs in the college division of the 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Federation Inc. (Cesafi) basketball tournament on Sunday, September 29, at the Cebu Coliseum.
Nonol, a 5-foot-8 product of the Cypress Park High School in Cypress, Texas, dazzled in his first action in a UC uniform as he fired a team-high 12 points anchored on a 2-of-3 shooting from three-point range.
Nonol added two steals and a rebound in just 13 minutes of action. The shifty guard was +17 in the efficiency rating, giving the Webmasters a huge lift while he was on the court.
No other UC player scored in double figures but the Webmasters still took full control of the match and led from start to finish.
Playing their first game of the season, UC ended the first quarter with a 32-18 lead and padded the advantage to 50-31 at the bend. The Webmasters took a 63-48 cushion into the final period as the Mustangs offered a token resistance that sealed UC’s 14-point rout.
Keaton Clyde Taburnal topped the Mustangs with a game-high 16 points, while Redjhee Recimiento pitched in 10 markers.(CCM)
