EZBOND and Premium edged out separate opponents to kick off their respective title campaigns on a high note as the Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 2nd Mortabond Cup got underway over the weekend at the Benedicto College Gymnasium.

EZBond was pushed to the limit before surviving Lite, 76-74, while Premium also went through anxious moments before escaping Mortaflow, 71-69.

Also winning on the opening day was Mortaseal, which nipped Strakgrout, 70-63.

Dexsel Caadan led the way for EZBond with 22 points, 13 rebounds, five blocks, and two assists. Fritz Villacorta added 18 points, eight rebounds, three steals, and an assist, while Justine Aspacio and Michael Judilla contributed 11 and 10 markers, respectively.

Miguel Cenabre scattered 20 points and Mark Bajenting had 19 points, 14 rebounds, eight assists, two steals, and a block in a losing cause. Ian Ed Lapina pitched in 10 markers.

Leading the charge for Premium was Chester Hinagdanan, who unloaded 32 points, 12 rebounds, three steals, two assists, and a block.

Chad Go and Ronald Fabian backed Hinagdanan with 13 and 10 markers, respectively.

John Buhawe produced 38 points, 16 rebounds, one block, one steal, and an assist but Mortaflow couldn’t survive a short-handed roster that saw them having just six players.

Miggy Aparri, on the other hand, paced Mortaseal with 16 points, eight rebounds, and a block.(CCM)
