FORMER University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancer Rey Suerte has found a new home in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).
Suerte has been traded by the Blackwater Bossing to the Converge FiberXers, who in turn gave up BJ Andrade.
The trade ended Suerte’s five-year stay with Blackwater, the team that selected him in the special Gilas draft in 2019.
With Converge, Suerte will reunite with fellow former Gilas pool members Jordan Heading and Justine Baltazar.
Converge and Blackwater are already out of playoff contention in the ongoing PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
The 6-foot-3 Suerte played 10 games in the Commissioner’s Cup, averaging 4.8 points, 1.9 rebounds, and 1.10 assists.
Andrade is Converge’s 10th overall pick in the 2023 PBA Rookie Draft. The 6-foot-1 former Ateneo Blue Eagle saw limited action this conference, averaging just 3.45 minutes a game in the 11 contests that he played in and was only good for 3.5 points per outing.(CCM)
