CASES of drowning, fire, vehicular accidents, and crimes marred the observance of this year’s Holy Week.

Col. Randulf Tuaño, chief of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) public information office, five vehicular accidents, one robbery hold-up, and fire incidents were recodred in the National Capital Region, Region 8, and Region 9, a report by Inquirer said.

Tuaño, in a dzBB interview, noted that drowning incidents were the most reported, with 31 cases. This figure reflects a 28 percent drop from the 43 recorded last year.

Other cases included acts of lasciviousness, stabbing, and small threats.

Tuaño added that the PNP has been on heightened alert since March 24, with around 69,000 personnel deployed across the country until the end of May.
