Danao mourns death of ‘Mayor Don’
THE city of Danao is mourning the passing of its former mayor who served the city for over a decade.
The Local Government Unit of Danao, through an Executive Order (EO) issued by Mayor Ramon “Nito” Durano III, directed the lowering of Philippine flags to half-mast in all of the city’s buildings, offices, and facilities in honor and in memory of Jesus Duterte Durano Sr.
“It is fitting and proper that the City Government of Danao accord Mayor Durano the honor and tribute befitting a former chief executive of this city, in recognition of his invaluable contributions to the growth and development of Danao City and the well-being of its constituents” read part of the EO
Durano Sr., who passed away on May 5, was the elder brother of Mayor Ramon.
The Durano family has not yet publicly disclosed the cause of death of the former Mayor who was fondly known as Mayor “Don”.
Mayor Don died at the age of 89. He was the second son of the prominent public servants in Danao, Ramon “Mano Amon” Mercado Durano Sr. and Beatriz Ypil Duterte.
Mayor Don served the city of Danao as mayor from 1988 to 2001.
Prior being a mayor, he also served as a councilor of Danao.(MyTVCebu)
