Danao forges partnership with Japanese city
A NEW international partnership has been formalized between Danao City and Namegata City, strengthening cooperation in education, cultural exchange, tourism, and economic development.
The Friendship City Partnership Agreement marks another milestone in Danao’s efforts to expand global ties and create more opportunities for its residents.
Before the signing, Namegata City Mayor Shuya Suzuki and his delegation visited key institutions in Danao, including Cebu Technological UniversityDanao City Campus and RMDSF-STEC, where they were welcomed
by city officials, students, and educators.
The group also toured the Tawsan Mangrove Forest Ecopark, showcasing Danao City’s commitment to sustainability and eco-tourism.
Danao Mayor Mix Durano emphasized that this partnership is not just about forging diplomatic ties but about creating real opportunities for Danawanons.
The agreement paves the way for various initiatives, including educational and cultural exchanges through study visits, conferences, and student-teacher programs.
Workforce development is also a priority, with plans to open study and employment opportunities for Danawanons in Namegata.
Economic collaboration will be strengthened through joint trade shows and business conferences, fostering closer ties between industries in both cities.
Additionally, governance benchmarking will allow officials from both sides to share best practices in city development and administration.
Danao’s Committee Chair on Education Don Roel Aria stressed that the partnership is focused on tangible growth rather than publicity, highlighting the city’s commitment to expanding opportunities beyond the Philippines.
Further solidifying this goal, Danao City also signed a Facilitating Agency Agreement with Achieve Goal Co., Ltd., an organization that will help deploy qualified teachers from Danao to Namegata, reinforcing both cities' commitment to educational excellence.
This latest partnership builds on Danao City’s existing international collaborations with Kashima City and Yokohama City in Japan, Hoengseong-gun in South Korea, and Belgium.
Under its current leadership, Danao continues to focus on livelihood programs, skills training, and career development, reinforcing its vision of becoming a globally competitive and sustainable city.(MyTVCebu)
