Damp weather in Cebu to last till weekend
UMBRELLAS up!
The damp weather in Cebu, caused by localized thunderstorms, may last throughout this week, the state weather bureau said.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Administration in Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan), in its latest weather outlook, forecasted that the rains experienced since last week may continue to prevail.
Between Wednesday, July 22 and Saturday, July 25, Cebu may have cloudy skies with chances of thunderstorms and rain showers.
The damp weather, which recently resulted in floodings in low-lying areas in Metro Cebu, is caused by localized thunderstorms, said Jhomer Eclarino, chief weather forecaster at Pagasa-Mactan.
“Today (July 21), the rains we experienced are due to localized thunderstorms,” Eclarino said.
Likewise, there is no major weather system affecting the region. But the state weather bureau is monitoring a low-pressure area (LPA) outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).
It was last spotted 1,545 kilometers east of Eastern Visayas, with a medium chance of developing into a tropical depression, Pagasa reported.(RBE)
