CIT-U, San Carlos score wins in Cesafi cage wars

THE Cebu Institute of Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats and the San Carlos School of Cebu Baby Warriors chalked up separate wins in the basketball tournament of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 on Wednesday, September 23, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Wildcats powered their way to a 68-53 win over the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Panthers behind the stellar outing of Braebon Ali Thompson in the collegiate division.

Thompson scattered a game-high 19 points, hauled down 16 rebounds, issued three assists, and blocked two shots in a massive performance that powered the Wildcats to their third victory in five games.

John Eimrod Rodulfa provided Thompson the needed support after tallying 16 points, five rebounds, five steals, and five assists.

Peter John Peteros came away with 16 points and John Athony Aligway had 10 markers in the Panthers’ fourth defeat against a lone win.

On the other hand, the Baby Warriors recorded their second win by drubbing the listless Paref-Springdale Titans, 80-65, in the secondary division.

San Carlos tore the game awaprt after exploding for 50 points in the middle periods while limiting Paref-Springdale to just 28.

San Carlos improved to 2-2 (win-loss), while Paref-Springdale stayed winless after four games.

Ahron Andrei Casul and John Glicerd Gaviola paced the Baby Warriors with 13 points each.

The loss put to naught the productive showing of Anton Lorenzo Gratones, who completed a triple-double show of 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 11 assists to go with five steals and two blocks.

Richie Sarmiento II led the Titans with 17 points while Louie Arreglo II had 10 markers in the loss.(CCM)
