THE Benedicto College (BC) Cheetahs sneaked from behind to beat the University of San Carlos (USC) Warriors, 69-62, in the college division of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) Season 26 on Monday night, October 5, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Cheetahs overhauled a 29-38 halftime deficit to secure a win that allowed them to tie the four-time defending champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers for the No. 1 spot with identical 6-1 (win-loss) slates.

After an 18-12 attack in the third quarter, BC finished off USC with a 22-12 run in the fourth quarter to claim a second straight victory after also beating the University of Cebu-Lapu/Lapu-Mandaue Webmasters last Saturday, 77-52.

BC has won its last two games after it bowed to the University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguars in overtime, 60-62–a close loss that ended Cheetahs’ four-game win streak.

Den Rick Orgong led the Cheetahs with 22 points, four rebounds, two steals, and an assist. Alcher John Pabalan added 14 points, seven rebounds, one assist, and one steal.

Kenneth Babalcon, Serge Gabines, and John Carlo Sabroso also did their part in the victory. Babalcon collected eight points, seven assists, five rebounds, four steals, and a block, Gabines wound up eight points, 11 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and two blocks while Sabroso had eight points, six boards, and two feeds.

Jhoernel Tangkay scored 14 points for USC, which dropped to 5-3.(CCM)
