CEBU’S premier school-based competition is ready to roll out another season.

The Season 26 of the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) will unwrap this Saturday, August 29, with its centerpiece basketball tournament at the Cebu Coliseum.

The high school basketball tournament will be completed by 13 schools, including newcomers San Roque College de Cebu (SRCDC) Greyhounds and PAREF Springdale Titans.

Nine squads, including the debuting Univesity of Cebu Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue, will compete in the college division.

Aside from basketball, other events this season are athletics, badminton, beach volley, chess, dancesport, football, karatedo, scrabble, swimming, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, volleyball, and e-sports.

Highlighting the opening ceremony is the traditional selection of best muses from the two divisions.

Opening matches will have the Greyhounds battling the Titans in the first game and the UCLM Webmasters clashing with the University of Southern Philippines Foundation Panthers in the main game.

This season, the league will be introducing a major change–the paid real-time streaming.

During the league’s press launch on Wednesday, Aug. 26, CESAFI Commissioner Felix Tiukinhoy Jr. said football, volleyball and basketball games will be streamed on pay-per-view basis.

Viewers will have to pay a subscription fee of P88 per game. A monthly subscription is also available where one can watch 18 games for P288.

Games can still be watched for free but on a delayed basis.(CCM)
