THE defending champions University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers sustained their dominant run, blasting the University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fighting Maroons, 91-59, to stay unbeaten in the ongoing 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (CESAFI) Basketball Tournament.
The win gave the Green Lancers the solo lead in the college division standings as they hiked their record to 5-0 (win-loss).
UV is trailed closely by the University of Cebu Webmasters, who are 4-0. The Benedicto College Cheetahs are third place with their own perfect record of 3-0.
Kent Ivo Salarda took care of business for UV, posting a game-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Raul Gentallan and AJ Sacayan backed Salarda with 15 markers each.
JD Dizon scored 15 points, but he was the lone UP player to score in double figures as the Fighting Maroons slumped to 1-4.
In a juniors division duel on Sunday, October 27, at the Cebu Coliseum, the University of Cebu Lapu-Lapu Mandaue (UCLM) Webmasters tripped the University of Southern Philippines Foundation (USPF) Baby Panthers, 87-81.
UCLM improved to 3-5 record while USPF dropped to 3-3.
Dan Mitchell Ferraren fired 27 points while Wade Adam Luche scattered 25 points to lead UCโs convincing win.
Fritz Gonzales erupted for a game-high 30 points but his brilliant offensive still failed the Baby Panthers.(CCM)
