AN UNBEATEN Cebuano boxer is set to get a major test when he faces a highly touted opponent in the co-main event of “Kumong Bol-anon 19” fight card slated on Saturday, December 21, at the Holy Name University Barders Gymnasium in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Reymart “Cebuano Assassin” Tagacanao, a 25-year-old native of Carcar City, Cebu, will put his World Boxing Association (WBA) Asia super flyweight title on the line against the veteran Phai Pharob of Thailand.

It will be Tagacanao’s first defense of the title since winning the belt in March against Hamson Lamandaue of Indonesia last March also in Tagbilaran.

The unbeaten Tagacanao, who has nine wins, seven of them by knockouts, is currently ranked No. 15 in the WBA world super flyweight (junior bantamweight) division.

Standing in Tagacanao’s way is Pharob, who is a former WBA interim world champion.

The Thai fighter has 38 wins, six losses, and 29 knockout wins.

The main event of the card promoted by PMI Bohol Boxing Pormotions of lawyer-sportsman Floriezyl Podot will pit WBO top-ranked light flyweight contender Regie Suganob against another Thailander Nanthanon Thongchai.(CCM)
