FOR 2025, the provincial government of Cebu wants a budget of P25 billion.

The proposed fund is P2 billion higher than this year’s budget.

“The total budget to be presented next year is P25 billion,” said Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia during a joint meeting of the province’s development, peace and order, anti-drug abuse, and disaster risk reduction and management councils on Tuesday, October 15, at the Capitol.

Part of the proposed P25-billion budget is the P14-billion Annual Investment Plan (AIP) to fund the various projects and programs of the province.

It was in the same joint meeting that the AIP was approved.

In his presentation, Budget Officer Danilo Rodas said P3.5 billion of the budget is allocated for the construction/ rehabilitation and improvement of bridges, roads which include street lighting, and traffic system program.

Another P3.5 billion is for the water system development program.

A P1.2 billion is allocated also for the construction and improvement of buildings and other structure programs. Another P1 billion is intended for the power generation and electrification program.

Additionally, a P200-million allocation is for the construction of drainage system, slope protection, and flood control structures; P150 million for the development/ restoration of the cultural heritage buildings, parks and museums among others; P100 million for the acquisition of vehicles like ambulances and emergency response; P350 million for the airport, seaports, reclamation and othet site development projects.

As to the improvement of health services, the Capitol's allocation for the construction and development of Capitol-run hospitals including the acquisition of medical equipment and supplies is P3.8 billion, while P400 million has been earmarked for veterinary, agricultural and environmental facilities.(LAO)
