CHRISTMAS is coming early for Cebu City Hall employees with the city government set to release their 14th-month pay and P5,000 cash gifts ahead of schedule.

Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia has directed the treasury budget and accounting departments to prioritize payroll processing to ensure bonuses are distributed by November 2.

“For as long as the process is fast, I am instructing the City Treasurer’s Office to start releasing on November 2,” Garcia said.

“You better prepare it immediately so we can process it ASAP (as soon as possible),” he added.

This accelerated release reflects Garcia’s commitment to swiftly addressing employee needs as part of his administration’s guiding principles.

“Have we ever released mid-year bonuses and cash gifts this early in November? Only in this administration!” he added.

To further spread holiday cheer, Garcia submitted a third supplemental budget (SB 3) worth P300 million to the City Council.

This budget includes funds for salary adjustments and additional Christmas bonuses for regular, casual, job order, and barangay workers.

Garcia highlighted that previous mid-year bonuses for Cebu City Hall employees were typically released in late November, with cash gifts following in December.

He urged the council to fast-track its approval, expressing hope that employees’ Christmas bonuses would be released by the first week of December.

However, he noted that the timing ultimately depended on the City Council, as SB 3 had been submitted two weeks prior.(MyTVCebu)
