All is set for the Sandugo Ultimate Dragon Boat Race 2024 in Dauis, Bohol where some of the country’s best paddlers try to outdo each other.

The opening ceremony will be held on August 16 at Cafe Lawis while actual races are set on August 17-18 at the Miramar Wharf behind the Dauis Church.

Cash prizes totalling to P500,000 are at stake in the race organized by the Bohol Paddlers Association Incorporated (BPAI) under the leadership ofits president, Dr. Theodore Dumaluan.

The first day of the competition will have the open/women & senior mixed small boat competition. The final day of the event will have the mixed standard and senior open small boat competition.

Aside from cash prizes, winners will also receive trophies and medals, said Dumaluan.

Dumaluan added that this year’s race promises to be bigger and better with teams from Cagayan, Dumaguete, Manila, and Cebu trying to unseat last year’s champion from Calbayog City, Samar.

Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado welcomed the holding of the race, believing that it will further promote the province as a prime tourism destination.

“It will definitely help promote Bohol as the country’s first Unesco Geopark,” Aumentado said.(CCM)
