Capitol back to 4-day work-week

THE Cebu Provincial Government is back to a four-day-work week arrangement as a measure to conserve energy.

The set-up will start next week.

Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro issued a memorandum to all department or office heads and employees for the implementation of the reduced number of days of work at the Capitol.

“Pursuant to Executive Order No. 16, s. 2026, in order to reduce energy consumption, offices and departments of the Cebu Provincial Government are hereby encouraged to adopt a Four-day work week arrangement” read part of the memorandum dated Sept. 23, 2026.

The compressed workweek arrangement will start on Monday, September 28 wherein Capitol offices will start opening at 8am to 12 noon and 1pm to 7pm from Monday to Thursday.

Excluded in this arrangement are Cebu Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Cebu Provincial Health Office, Cebu Provincial Detention and Rehabilitation Center, and the Cebu North and South Bus Terminal.

Moreover, the Provincial Governors Office, Provincial General Services Office and the Provincial Treasurer’s Office are encouraged to have one personnel who would adopt regular office hours from Monday to Friday.

Capitol offices will continue to implement energy efficiency and conservation protocols provided in EO no. 16 which was issued in March.

The Capitol first implemented a four-day work week in March this year while maintaining the required 40-hour workweek and ensuring uninterrupted frontline and critical services as part of its energy-saving measures.(MyTVCebu)
