JOHN Therese Buwahe showed why he’s considered as one of the league’s elite scorers when he powered Virtuoso to a 74-67 triumph over Knoxout in the newly opened Cebu Architects Basketball Club (CABC) 3rd Boysen Cup on Sunday, Oct. 26, at the Game Changer Gym in Mandaue City.
Buhawe delivered an offensive clinic, going 12-for-21 from the field to finish with 28 points. Buhawe did it all for Virtuoso as he also tallied seven rebounds, four steals, and two assists.
Philip Bryan Alegado and Ian Ed Lapina gave the winning squad an extra lift as they tossed in 18 and 11 markers, respectively. Alegado also had eight rebounds while Lapina likewise had seven boards, and three blocks.
James Nacario and Zach Elisha Go led Knoxout with 19 and 17 points, respectively.
In another match, defending champion Healthy Home kicked off its title-retention bid with a 84-69 crushing of Color Series.
Anthony Bajenting paced Healthy Home with 26 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
Mark Paradero and Elmo Ubanan contributed 15 points each.
Jhazriel Jumola led Color Series with 14 points.
Scoring a tight victory was Nation, who barely escaped Titan Superfelx, 86-85.
Michael Cinco showed the way for Nation with 24 points while Edilberto Sanchez and Kim Rebosura donated 18 and 12, respectively.
Lemuel Aspacio spearheaded Titan with 26 points.(CCM)
