FILIPINO naturalized player Justin Brownlee will lead the Gilas Pilipinas squad that will compete in the 2nd Doha International Cup, which will be held from February 15 to 17.

The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas announced on Friday, February 14, that Brownlee will be joined by PBA superstars MVP June Mar Fajardo, Chris Newsome, Scottie Thompson, Jamie Malonzo, CJ Perez, Calvin Oftana, and Troy Rosario.

Also part of the team are Korean Basketball League and Japan B.League stalwarts Dwight Ramos, Carl Tamayo, AJ Edu, and Kevin Quiambao, and UAAP standout Mason Amos.

Edu and Rosario will be filling the void vacated by Kai Sotto, who is still nursing a torn ACL injury.

The Tim Cone-mentored Gilas is looking to sharpen its arsenals, seeing action in the Qatar tournament before competing in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers later this month.

In the FIBA event, Gilas will play Chinese Taipei on February 20 and New Zealand on February 23.

Before flying to Qatar, the Nationals went through a two-day training camp in Laguna.(CCM)
