IT IS a prized possession that holds so much sentimental value for him but June Mar Fajardo is willing to let it go for the welfare of his fellow Cebuanos.

Fajardo, the dominant big man of the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), announced that he is auctioning his first Most Valuable Player (MVP) trophy to help raise funds for the relief efforts for the victims of Typhoon Tino inCebu.

Fajardo’s trophy will be available for bids in the auction organized by the Alagang Kapatid Foundation of TV5.

Game worn shoes and jerseys from other PBA players will also be auctioned off.

“Syempre (mahirap i-let go). Pero nung tinanong nga ako kung ano ipapa auction ko, iyan ‘yung naisip ko kasi yung trophy na yun special yun sa akin kasi years of hardwork ko iyon eh, sakripisyo” said Fajardo in a report by Manila Bulletin.

Fajardo emphasized that deciding to auction the hardware wasn’t easy, but helping those affected by the calamity was his priority.

“Nandoon yung failures then after naging successful ako ng season na iyon nakuha ko yung MVP. Pero special din yung mga Cebuano para sa akin,” he said.

The nine-time MVP is hoping that the trophy will be able to fetch a significant amount so more help can be sent to his fellow Cebuanos.

“Sana maganda yung maging price nun kasi isa yun sa mga koleksyon ko. Nahirapan nga ako (ilet-go) sana maging maganda yung price non. I mean yung makakakuha naman ng trophy na iyon hindi lang naman sya makakakuha ng trophy eh makakuha siya ng parte sa buhay ko. Isa pa non, nakakatulong sya sa mga tao sa Cebu. Hindi lang basta basta na trophy yon,” he concluded.(CCM)
