Baricuatro to Camotes residents: ‘Too early to talk about politics’

Cebu Gov. Pamela Baricuatro told residents in Camotes Island this when she led the distribution of cash assistance to the victims of Typhoon Tino in the island on Monday, July 20.

Baricuatro noted that Capitol officials are being pitted against each other, saying several Facebook accounts and pages are posting surveys on who to vote for governor in the next elections.

The governor pointed out that it’s too early to talk about politics as she called for unity.

“Nakita ninyo naa mi diri karon nagkahiusa, so humana man ang eleksyon wala usa tay politika. So ang importante na magkahiusa ta,” she said.

“Ang among gihuna-huna unsaon namo og tabang ninyo especially karong panahona nga kahibalo mo dili lalim ang kahimtang karon hilabina kining oil crisis,” the governor added.

Provincial Administrator Ace Durano and 5th District Board Member Red Duterte were with Baricuatro, together with other local officials, during the distribution of P10,000 cash assistance from the Capitol and 10 kilos of rice from the Office of the President for over 600 families who were affected by Typhoon Tino last year.

Aside from the cash distribution, Baricuatro also led the groundbreaking of several infrastructure projects in Camotes, including the ₱8.48-million Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Ricardo L. Maningo Memorial Hospital; the P1.675-million Day Care Center in Barangay Mabini; the P4.6-million multi-purpose covered court in Sitio Matin-aw, Barangay Libertad; and the P3.639-million barangay hall in Eastern Poblacion, among others.(MyTVCebu)
