Bantayan ferry fares go down
SHIPPING companies plying mainland Cebu-Bantayan Island route have implemented reduced rates.
Super Shuttle Ferry announced a 10% reduction in passenger and cargo rates for its San Remigio-Santa Fe route effective May 12.
The adjusted fare rate is now at P392 for regular passengers; P314 for studenst/persons with disabilities (PWDs); P280 for senior citizens (280php); and P196 for minors aged to three 11.
For two-wheel vehicles the adjusted rate are as follows: bicycle/BMX (P257.00); bicycle/mountainbike (P384.00); motorcycle 150cc (P1,033); motorcycle/big bike 200cc up ( P1,247.00); tricycle (₱1,647.00).
As for four-wheel vehicles, the rate ranges from P2,264 -P3,501.
These updated rates were posted by the Municipality of Madridejos through its official Facebook page.
The Island Shipping Corp. also rolled back its fares effective May 11 following the decrease in fuel prices.
For its regular passengers, the new adjusted fare is P370; P264 for senior citizens; P296 for students and PWDs; and P185 for minors.
For motorcycles, rates for 200cc below is P800; P900 for 650cc, P1,200 for 700cc-1000cc, and P1,400 tricycles.
For rolling cargoes, adjusted fare for SUV, pickup, wagon, multicab & similar units is P2,200 while for multicab, automobile, sedan, and hatchback is P1,500.
"This adjustment is made in line with our commitment to implement fair and reasonable rates for the benefit of the riding public and our valued clients" Island Shipping said in a statement.
Island Shipping has sea trips via Hagnaya Port in San Remigio to Santa Fe port in Bantayan Island and vice versa.
The fare rates have been adjusted following a meeting between local officials in Bantayan Island, Maritime Industry Authority and shipping company officials.
The meeting came after passenger fares increased between P250 and P450 and between P2,000 and P3,000 for vehicle transport fees.
The spike was due to rising fuel costs caused by the conflict in the Middle East.(MyTVCebu)
