Bangkok bar fire leaves at least 27 dead
AT LEAST 27 people were killed and more than 60 others were injured after a fire tore through a bar in Bangkok, Thailand, shortly after midnight on Monday.
Firefighters responded to the scene and brought the blaze under control in about 30 minutes, but many victims were reportedly unable to escape as the fire spread rapidly through the establishment.
According to BBC News, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul said the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Thairath reported that several people are still missing, while the Daily News said flammable interior decorations and possible obstructions near emergency exits may have contributed to the tragedy.
Authorities have cordoned off the area as forensic teams continue examining the scene to determine the exact cause of the fire.(Feirnchae M. Lim, UP Cebu Comm Intern)
