Australia’s Brian Kerle rules Roxas City tilt

BRIAN Kerle Basketball Academy made history when it ruled the inaugural Roxas City Invitational Basketball Tournament.

The team from Australia achieved the feat by defeating the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 66-51, in their championship duel on Wednesday night, August 26, at the Dinggoy Roxas Civic Center.

It was a perfect run Brian Kerle, which went 6-0 en route to pocketing the championship crown of the tournament spearheaded by Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas.

Tamuri Wigness tallied 23 points and six rebounds in a solid outing that netted the shifty guard the Finals MVP award.

Kurt Siwek chipped in 13 points while Max Kerle pitched 12 in the win that saw Brian Kerle lead by as many as 20 points.

Adamson couldn’t get into a good offensive rhythm in the title match with AJ Fransman ending up the only Falcon in double figures with 11 points.

In the battle for third, the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta (UPHSD) Altas escaped the La Salle University Green Archers, 66-64.

Meanwhile, Jacob Cortez, the wily playmaker of the De La Salle University Green Archers, copped the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award after turning in a solid all-around performance in the six-day tournament.

Cortez put up stellar id averages of 16.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.2 steals a game.

Joining Cortez in the Mythical Five were his La Salle teammate Moses Kulang, Adamson’s Mattroven Erolon and Earl Medina, and Brian Kerle’s Max Kerle
