RODEL “The Hulk” Wenceslao scored yet another win, nailing a technical knockout (TKO) win over a Thailander opponent to wrest a regional belt in the main event of “Engkwentro 15: Bakbakan sa Cawayan” over the weekend at the Cawayan Municipal Plaza in Masbate.

Picking up his ninth straight win, Wenceslao of the Cebu City-based ARQ Boxing Stable snatched the World Boxing Foundation (WBF) International welterweight title by beating Atchariya Wirojanasunobol via a fourth-round TKO.

The two fighters engaged in a torrid exchange in the early goings but the Thai fighter suddenly quit at the 1:30 mark of the fourth round due to an apparent foot injury.

Wenceslao, thus, scored his 23rd win against 19 defeats and two draws. Twelve of his wins came by KO.

Wirojanasunobol went home with his sixth loss in 21 fights.

In the undercard, Wenceslao’s stablemates, Angelus Pilapil and Speedy Boy Acope, captured separate Philippine Boxing Federation (PBF) titles after prevailing over their respective foes.

Pilapil (4W-0L, 2 KOs) snagged the PBF flyweight belt by chalking up a fourth-round knockout win over fellow Cebuano John Rey Labajo (4W-2L-1D, 4 KOs), while Acope (4W-1L, 2 KOs) hacked out a sixth-round TKO win over Peter Estiller (6W-2L-1D, 4 KOs) to claim the PBF super featherweight belt.

Another ARQ stalwart, Berland Robles (11W-0L-1D, 4 KOs) also prevailed and kept his unblemished record intact by flooring Anferne Palarca (5W-6L-1D, 1 KO) in the third round of their non-title encounter.

Big Yellow Boxing Stable’s Anthony Gilbuela (8W-7L-2D, 2 KOs) and ARQ’s April Jay Abne (15W-1L, 6 KOs) fought to a majority draw in their eight-round duel.(CCM)
