APPLE Inc. revealed a new addition to its current iPhone lineup called the iPhone 16e, a budget-friendly version of the iPhone 16.

The new release, powered by the latest generation chip A18, features a cellular modem design which supports the Apple Intelligence which can enhance user interface.

According to the company, the C1 modem is the “most power-efficient modem ever on an iPhone”.

By launching the C1 modem in the iPhone 16e, Apple is lessening its dependence on Qualcomm after acquiring Intel's modem business in 2019, a move designed to provide more control over product development.

Meanwhile, Apple Intelligence is a personal intelligence system that helps you boost productivity and write expressively. It also has a handful of AI-powered tools that can generate emojis, prompt images, summarize notifications, and remove unnecessary objects in photos.

This new product presents a 6.1 inch screen with edge-to-edge OLED display which displays vibrant and colorful pictures perfect for binge-watching movies and reading e-books.

Same with the iPhone 16, this new unit has a 48 megapixel Fusion camera that can capture stunning high-resolution photos and 4k videos, a report by CNN stated.

The phone also has a Face ID, an Action Button, Wi‑Fi, 5G connectivity, and eSIM.

Despite the abundance in features, it lacks a second camera for wide shots and Camera Control button for quick access. It is only available in two colors — black and white.

According to Apple, the phone utilizes a USB-C charging port and a ceramic shield for its durability. It also has a supersized battery life that can last up to 26 hours of video playblack.

Its price starts at $599 for 128 GB; $699 for 256 GB; and $899 for 512 GB. The pre-order for the iPhone16e begins on February 21 and will be available on Apple stores on February 28.(Johanna Sumalinog, USJ-R Intern)
