Woman nabbed for selling stolen auto engines
A WOMAN accused of buying and selling stolen motor vehicle engines were arrested in Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City, Cebu on Tuesday night, Feb. 24.
Ellen Dorig Balanggie, 44, was arrested in her store by personnel of the Highway Patrol Group-Central Visayas and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Central Visayas.
Seized during the arrest were 13 motocycle engines and assorted engine blocks.
Police said the woman was arrested after she failed to present documents proving that she was authorized to sell the confiscated items.
Prior to the arrest, the HPG-7 received reports about the spate of motorcycle thefts in Talisay and neighboring areas.
The HPG-7 added that stolen motorcycles were allegedly brought to the suspect’s store and were eventually sold in parts.
Police said the woman is facing charges for violating Presidential Decree 1612 known as the Anti-Fencing Law and Republic Act 10883 or the Anti-Carnapping Law.(CDB)
