THEY may have fallen short in their title aspirations but the University of the Visayas (UV) Baby Green Lancers made sure they would not end their campaign empty handed.

UV snagged the consolation third-place trophy after they escaped with a 79-73 victory over the University of Cebu (UC) Baby Webmasters in the high school division of the 24th Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc (CESAFI) Basketball Tournament on Tuesday December 3, at the Cebu Coliseum.

The Baby Green Lancersโ€™ hopes of making it to the Finals was quashed when they failed to overcome the defending champions Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles in their Final Four match, 76-79.

UV was quick to put the heartbreaking loss behind them, racing to a fast start that enabled them to mount sizable leads.

UV went on to lead by as many as 17 in the second half to come away with the win.

Roderick Cambarijan Jr. led the way for UV with a game-high 17 points, seven rebounds, and six steals. Kenneth Calvine Cole, John Nethan Dela Torre, and Jireh Caro backed Cambarijan with eight points each.

Carlo Salgarino topped UC with 15 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Allen Doverte contributed 15 points while Keith David Buot had 13.(CCM)
