WITH two high caliber reinforcements suiting up, the Meralco Bolts will be parading a stacked roster in the brand new season of the East Asia Super League.
Justin Brownlee and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, two of the deadliest imports to ever play in the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), have been tapped to reinforce the Bolts in the tough tournament.
Aside from Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson, Meralco will also have Puerto Rican 6-foot-10 center Ismael Romero.
Brownlee will be taking the naturalized player spot while both Hollis-Jefferson and Romero are considered the world imports.
Meralco is still looking for an Asian import to further beef up its roster.
Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson have figured in fierce PBA battles as resident imports of Barangay Ginebra and TNT Tropang 5G, respectively.
Ironically, Brownlee will now try to lead Meralco to the Promised Land after dealing the Bolts with multiple heartbreaks in the PBA.
Brownlee and Hollis-Jefferson are teaming up for the first time. The two have also faced each other in FIBA tournaments with Brownlee powering Gilas Pilipinas and Hollis-Jefferson leading Jordan.
The two highly touted imports own a combined nine PBA championships and six Best Import awards.
Aside from the three reinforcements, Meralco will also count on locals Chris Newsome, Cliff Hodge, Chris Banchero, Raymond Almazan, Bong Quinto, Aaron Black, Jansen Rios, and Brandon Bates.(CCM)
