REY Nambatac carried TNT on his back last week, putting on a solid performance in a win that enabled the Tropang Giga to earn a piece of the lead in the ongoing 50th PBA Philippine Cup.

For his stellar game in TNT’s 100-98 overtime thriller over the Meralco Bolts, Nambatac was named the Player of the Week for the period of Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.

In TNT’s victory over Meralco, Nambatac collected 22 points, 20 of them came in the final half and overtime period that helped the Tropa battle back from a 23 points down.

That heroic performance was enough for Nambatac to beat out San Miguel Beer's June Mar Fajardo and Juami Tiongson, Barangay Ginebra's Japeth Aguilar and Stephen Holt and Rain or Shine's Santi Santillan for the weekly award.

The Tropa are one of the frontrunners in the All-Filipino tournament, joining Magnolia and Rain or Shine at the No. 1 spot with identical 4-1 (win-loss) records.

NLEX is at close second with four wins and two losses.

The Tropa are tipped surge ahead in the standings as their next assignment will be against the lowly Terrafirma Dyip on Friday, Nov. 7.(CCM)
